"Thank you to the amazing organization, Will2Walk, for the additional funding toward the downpayment of my van. Having my own van means I'm able to efficiently move about to do the things I need to do for myself and my children without relying upon friends, family or public transportation. This has been a goal of mine for many years and thanks to them I was able to achieve my dream. Thank you for all the support!"

"School has always been super important to me, and the hardest part of my accident last year was missing a year of college. The Will2Walk scholarship has helped me get back to school this year so I can finish my degree on time despite my injury. It has given me more time to focus on school and my therapy so that I can make the most out of both my recovery and my college experience. I can’t thank Will2Walk enough!"

“In June 2018, my husband and I were in a motor vehicle accident involving a drunk driver. I sustained an incomplete spinal cord injury at C4-5, and was paralyzed from the neck down. Recovery has been long and hard but I am grateful to be going to a physical rehab that understands paralysis. Going to therapy, more specifically, the right therapy, is so crucial for spinal cord injury recovery. Next Step Orlando was that for me. Next Step is an activity based paralysis recovery gym that has helped me target areas I need to strengthen to improve my walking and balance, and helps apply those workouts to real life scenarios (stepping over blocks/objects, stepping up and down a step) things that will improve my everyday life. They also use neuro stimulation and vibration plates awaken the nerves, help improve drop foot and improve muscle memory. These are all things that are crucial for my recovery, that are not found at your typical PT rehab. Unfortunately most insurances don’t recognize these gyms that are important for paralysis recovery. This is where scholarships like Will2Walk are so beneficial, even crucial for spinal cord injury survivors. This scholarship from Will2Walk has allowed me to go to rehab more often, lifting the financial burden considerably, helping me not only progress in my recovery, but thrive in life even with paralysis.”

“Being an international student at a large state university means that my tuition and fees are pegged at out-of-state rates with additional fees. And when all the expenses are added up, things get really difficult. However, with this scholarship from Will2Walk Foundation, a huge financial burden has been taken off my shoulders. I can now focus on my studies at this University with less worries about how to cover my tuition. I’m really thankful for this generous opportunity!”

"Being injured since the age of three years old, I would see the neighbor kids riding their bikes. Wind in their hair and laughter as they rode by. I would feel so left out and so robbed of my childhood. Three years ago, I was introduced to off-road hand cycling at a bike fest camp. I was blown away that I actually could ride a bike like everyone else. For once in my life I felt normal. As I was in the mountains and riding on the trails, I was actually close enough to touch the tree branches and the leaves. I was in tears. I didn’t think there would be a day I would get the chance to feel the wind in my hair with a big smile on my face as I was riding. I felt as if I was a baby learning how to walk again. I couldn’t believe a hand cycle like this could change my outlook on life. Now I can be active and even get close and personal with the outdoors. Without anyone pushing or dragging me. This isn’t just a bike - it's a mobility device! It has reconnected me to the outdoors! This has been an outdoor therapy moment for me. Thank you so much for granting my hand cycle, Will2Walk. I am so grateful! You guys are a game changer in the disability community."
Scholarship Recipient Channing Cash of California | Awarded $2,500 | Handcycle

"I became a quadriplegic three years ago after a mountain biking accident. Having been a very active person my whole life, relying on a power wheelchair to move around was something that I wanted to change. My paralyzed hands made it very difficult to use a manual wheelchair and while searching for other options, I came across the Mountain Trike. A manually propelled chair made specifically for quadriplegics, I knew that the trike was something that could help me exercise my arms and chest while also getting back outdoors. It is made with mountain bike parts and is designed to be ridden off-road. My next challenge was obtaining funds to purchase one - I was extremely fortunate to discover Will2Walk offered grants for disabled individuals. I was overjoyed to receive a scholarship and my trike recently arrived. I can’t wait to see where it will take me, or more accurately, where I will take it. Thank you so much, Will2Walk!"

"The Will2Walk scholarship helped me get right back into activity-based therapy at REACT in Dallas, TX after a long break due to COVID-19. I'm one-year-post accident, and during this trip we found out that things below my injury level are starting to fire up. What a gift! We travel several hours out of state for therapy that pushes me farther than I ever thought I could go, and my family is so thankful for the financial support that is helping me to progress in my recovery."
