The Will2Walk foundation sponsored it’s first of many Golf Tournaments on September 5, 2009 at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort. The day was not what we were hoping for at first, severe thunderstorms and heavy rain almost cancelled the event, but after a two hour delay the sky opened up and gave us hope. We finally got started and 144 golfers lined up to attack the difficult but beautiful course.
I personally had a chance to ride around the course and was so happy to see everyone having so much fun, from the golfers to the volunteers, it was perfect. When the tournament was over we had a delicious lunch with a live auction, and great prizes for the golfers.
The best part for me was the response from everyone involved. I was told from many individuals how great the event went, how well it was organized and what a great time everyone had. Not too bad for our first tournament, and we have now set the bar for the next one to come.
I want to personally thank everyone involved, the golfers, the volunteers, the sponsors, those who donated and of course the Gold Canyon Golf Resort. What a great way to kick off the foundation! Now it’s time for us to get to work and find a cure!
